A talented player often understands the game instinctively.

They know when to attack, when to defend, when to use a bandeja, when to accelerate the point, and when to slow everything down.

But instinct is difficult to teach.

A coach has to take something that may feel automatic and break it down into language the student can understand.

A professional coach must constantly ask:

  • What is the player doing wrong?

  • Why is it happening?

  • What should change?

  • How can I correct it?

  • What is the simplest way to communicate that correction?

That ability to observe, diagnose, explain, and correct is one of the biggest differences between playing and coaching.
